The Gulf Savannah can be visited as your special destination or as a part of your epic road trip. Some of our favourite access points are:
- From the East – Enjoy North Queensland’s cosmopolitan coastal cities of Cairns and Townsville and travel through the lush Atherton Tablelands
- From the South – Outback Queensland is a treasure trove of Australian heritage, from dinosaur fossils to Waltzing Matilda and the Qantas story. Travel the Matilda Highway to Normanton or take the partly unsealed Kennedy Development Road north from Hughenden.
- From the West – The Savannah Way from Borroloola is one of Australia’s great four wheel drive adventures, or you can bring your caravan on sealed roads via Mount Isa, Cloncurry and Normanton
- From the North – Cape York adventurers will connect with the Gulf Savannahs landscapes and side route exploration. Come via Chillagoe and the Ootan Road to Mount Surprise.
All of these adventures and more can be found on the Drive North Queensland website and the Drive North Queensland phone app.
